CARING FOR AMERICAN PROJECT
WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT
Republican Women United is proud to adopt the Wounded Warrior Project as our "Caring for America" initiative.
The objective of WWP is to provide tangible support for the severely wounded and help them on the road to healing, both physically and mentally. Many of these wounded soldiers
come to Military Hospitals directly from the battlefield, with nothing to their name. Often their clothes have been cut off their bodies as the medics work to save their lives.
The WWP, started by a small group of individuals, decided to make backpacks their signature issue, helping to provide basic needs to these brave soldiers. Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit organization.
Wounded Warrior Backpacks contain essential care and comfort items including clothing, toiletries, calling card and playing cards, all designed to make their hospital stay more comfortable. They are provided to severely wounded service members arriving at military trauma centers. A smaller version of the WWP Backpack, Transitional Care Packs are sent directly to Iraq and Afghanistan to provide immediate comfort during a warrior’s relocation to the U.S. military trauma center. "We are forever grateful for all the WWP packs you've donated for our wounded warriors that come through here to recover! I wish I could capture the expressions on their faces when we give them a Wounded Warrior Project pack with the basic necessities inside...it truly is priceless! Some of them come with only the clothes on their back and may be here for weeks. So, to have some personal items to make them feel like a "normal" person, makes a world of difference.
